Partners for Healthy Pets — New Affordable Pet Care and Prevention

partners for healthy petsOne of the most popular discussions on social media among pet parents centers around pet healthcare. Affordable pet care is not widely available and friends with a sick pet often ask others if they have had experience with the symptoms their pet is presenting. They want to know if it’s necessary to take their furry friend to the vet. Sound familiar? It seems nearly everyone is trying to avoid that big expenditure of cash if at all possible.

What do people do when their pets get sick, but there’s no way to stretch the budget to take care of that? Wellness programs for pets are great, but we are all accustomed to the ubiquitous “pay at time of service” sign. Do people give up and hope things work out by themselves? If you look at the statistics on pet visits to the vet, the answer is yes.

Partners for Healthy Pets Offers Affordability

Veterinarians and industry advocates partnered to come up with a wellness program for pets that was affordable for veterinary clients and for vet practices to implement. Partners for Healthy Pets (PHP) is a committee of the American Veterinary Medical Foundation, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, and over 100 veterinary educational institutions, associations, and animal health companies committed to improved overall health in pets.

Vets play a central role in the health and longevity of our pets. Now here’s a way pet parents can help keep their pets on a healthy path, incorporating an annual prevention plan made easy on the budget.

Dr. Apryl Steele, DVM and founder of Tender Touch Veterinary in Denver, is the national spokesperson for Partners for Healthy Pets. She’ll be podcasting with us for the next nine months. If you want to be part of the conversation, ask your questions or make your comments below as we go along and they will be answered in the comment area or in the next podcast.
