Steve Dale, journalist, broadcaster, award-winning author and best friend to animals everywhere is now part of the Animal Cafe team and will be hosting a podcast or video on Thursday each week! We are so excited!!
Steve Dale is ubiquitous – everyone recognizes his name because he actually is everywhere, all the time! He is a certified animal behavior consultant (CABC) answering questions about pet behavior and interviewing luminaries in the pet world on his two nationally syndicated radio shows, Steve Dale’s Pet World and The Pet Minute together heard on over 100 radio stations. Steve is a long-time syndicated columnist for Tribune Media Services, a regular contributor to WGN Radio, a Chicago Tribune blogger, columnist and special correspondent for Cat Fancy, The Cat Channel (.com) and contributes to Victoria Stilwell’s blog and other sites. He also works at the local level on projects important to animal welfare.
Steve created the Chicago Task Force on Companion Animals and Public Safety (2000-2010), where they have over-turned proposed breed bans three times, twice over-turned mandated pediatric spay/neuter, and overturned proposed pet limit laws. The Task Force also created guidelines for ‘doggy day care.’ As a pet advocate, Steve has testified many times against breed bans and other concerns.
This year Steve claimed the honor of being the youngest writer to ever be inducted into the Dog Writers Association of America’s Hall of Fame. Between the Cat Writers’ and Dog Writers Associations alone, Steve has more than 30 awards, with two new books out now (Good Dog, Good Cat). He also had the honor of receiving the American Veterinary Medical Association Humane Award, the only award the AVMA bestows on non-veterinarians.
