Holidays, Pet Products, Where Do You Shop?

by Mary Haight on November 9, 2011

pet productsHolidays are nearly here, oh yes they are, and it’s time to start planning who is getting what.  I’m beginning to realize that my dog is getting a big slice of the present pie this year and I think I can blame this on all the pet products projects I’m involved with!

We have a new page over at Animal Cafe with Product Recommendations all of which have been approved by both Lorie Huston and I, with more new reviews coming.  While we will get a few cents if you happen to buy anything there, we really like the pet products we have chosen, and use ourselves, and wanted to share them with you.  (This is what I’ve been up to – besides the Petland petition – in case you were wondering;)

I’m editing the pet products podcast Carol Bryant and I offer each month for Animal Cafe and there are often things Carol has seen that I haven’t, plus I’ve got more than a few products right here that will be reviewed for your viewing pleasure and comment over the coming weeks.  Your feedback is always appreciated – we are never paid for these reviews, and are really interested in what you think of the products that turn up here and at Animal Cafe.

I wanted to ask you – where do you do your Christmas, Hanukkah, and other holiday shopping? I’ve recently gotten hooked on Amazon – it’s so easy and free shipping:) This is also very dangerous by the way – you think about something, look it up, and it’s usually there!  Case in point: I now have a Mason Pearson hairbrush to replace the one I had been using for the past 20 years, joined the Splenda monthly shipping club, bought some concentrated tart cherry juice (until I found it locally for $1.99 less), got a pack of 4 Brita water filters for much less than I could get it here, and a 3 pack of 10 oz cans of Chatsfield’s Cocoa Powder, which my local store stopped stocking.  Amazon – not just for books anymore! And nearly all of the pet products I like are available there!

What are your favorite places to shop for gifts for you and your pets?  Do you enjoy the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping or surfing for pet products from home?
