Top Dog Contest: Alite Designer Dog Collar & Leash

by Mary Haight on June 1, 2010

Enter the top dog contest today, and win a new, sleek Alite designer dog collar & leash, and doggy bag pod for your dog by the end of the week!  No hoops to jump through, just leave a comment telling us why your dog deserves to win the top dog contest!

Is your dog a fussy fashion queen in need of stylish new neckware? Is your pup’s leash so old and tattered your dog is getting a complex about hand me downs from former but dearly departed furry family members?  Make your comment and you’re entered in the contest!

Alite Designs, that cool design concepts company that makes products for camping, backpacking and hiking, didn’t stop there, and put their sense of design and living lightly on the earth into their designer dog collar, leash and “boa pod” that holds a roll of disposal bags and attaches to your leash or theirs. I got all three pieces(plus the large size collar and another pod, all of which will become prizes in a shelter raffle!) in the mail for review and a contest giveaway!

The Kung-Fu collar comes fitted with a stash pocket for keys, money or extra bags fits medium (12-16″) to large (16-24″) dogs. The Boa Lite Leash is 59″ and here we have a gray Boa Pod that attaches easily to the leash. The leash also has a built in handle that can be opened to wrap around a pole as a temporary tie up for your dog.  (Not that we ever recommend leaving your dog alone on the street while you go do something else.)

It’s a handsome ensemble, one that any dog would look good in, made of durable 210D  nylon with web mesh on the lining. It comes in gray and brown. Value: $61.

Here’s the photo of the pod to complete the group.

Contest Rules

One entry per person, deadline is Saturday, June 5th 2010 at 1:00 pm EST. The winner will be announced on Sunday June 6th 2010. All decisions are final; the winner will be asked to provide her or his mailing address.  A back up entry will be chosen should the winner not respond to the request for their address within 48 hours.

Legal Stuff

Employees of Alite Designs or Dancing Dog Blog (that would be Tashi!) are not eligible to enter the contest.  No substitutions including for cash are permitted, with the exception that Alite Designs and Dancing Dog Blog reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater monetary value for the prize. The winner shall be responsible and liable for all federal, state and local taxes on the value of the prize.

(Thanks to Shadow for modeling the goods!)

Any of my 3 dogs deserve to win because they are the Best Dogs in the World! Seriously, my wonderful dogs are all someone else's throw-aways, someones else's trash. One was a Philadelphia street dog, one was abandoned by people when they moved, and the third was a stray living in nearby woods. A throw-away dog proudly wearing their own designer collar and lead gives real meaning to the phrase "Trash to Treasure."
Thanks for offering the opportunity to win a great prize!

My dog Frankie is deeply ashamed that he is wearing the same old collar and leash that he has been wearing for… he can't remember how long. He feels that, as the inspiration for Am I Boring My Dog? and the star of the video book trailer — see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6C5FYjHgAHM — he deserves far better. I've tried to explain the problems that the book publishing industry is experiencing to him but he's not buying it. This contest is especially timely because we are heading off to do a book signing in San Diego in less than two weeks. Frankie will be the center of attention and he would love to be able to put his best paws forward.

My dog Kelly would love to win because she recently lost 6 lbs (about 1/5 of her body weight!) and deserves a fabulous new outfit to go along with her new slim physique. She even inspired me to lose weight along with her and write a book about it. Our agent is still searching for the right publisher. Wouldn't some new clothes boost her spirits while she waited?

Kouga needs a new collar as he is on the last hole and he is still growing. He would love a styling new collar and leash.

My dogs deserve to win because they've had the same collars since I got them and, well, they've gotten a complex about their tattered fashionware. Frisbee just turned 11, and Luna's 8th birthday is June 4. So although they both need new collars, one of them will do! I know everyone is doing a good job of marketing, but we really love the new collar designs. We want to be more fashionable! Plus, I've been reading your blog for a long long time. Does that count?

My dog Daisy was a rescue dog, being given to the local humane society when she was just a puppy because she was too much trouble! She has been my constant companion ever since and has helped me to discover my passion. She is a therapy dog and brings joy to many people every week. Recently she had a trachea collapse and we are relearning using a collar and harness. What a great way to celebrate her recovery with a new collar and leash!

Buster and Ty just read your post (a feat that, in and of itself, warrants the new leash/collar combo!) and they have decided that if they win, they will have a contest between the two of them to see who gets to keep it. We'll post pictures of each of them in the new outfit on our Facebook page (http://www.Facebook.com/GoPetFriendly) and let folks vote on which dog looks better in the new ensemble. Winner takes all!

Alice deserves an awesome new collar and leash because she is an awesome dog! Alice the wonder dog! Alice the great! Alice the pound puppy wearing hand-me-down accessories… Plus, the kids would love to present Alice with some new stuff. They say so every time we go down the pet aisle at Publix.

Looks like we have ten commenters, and I'll pick a random number using Random.org which is free (so far) — and it's great because it lends transparency to the process…what's not to love!
So see tomorrow's post for the winner…and so you don't forget, the winner should email me at dancingdogblog@yahoo.com with their address to claim their prize! If no one contacts we'll let random.org pick again:)
