Luckily my poor little pitbull was able to pass the terrible "toy" through her digestive tract without incident... I found huge pieces of bone in her poop, and I was worried to tears I'd have to take her in for surgery, which I've heard doesn't always work in these cases. Warning to pet owners: there are plenty of dangerous products on shelves at grocery stores (got mine at the H-E-B) and pet stores... not enough warnings and labels on the products. Such a shame.

Ok, Jim, I know you promote and feed raw food to your dogs, an the picture of mostly digested green tripe on the floor, in the middle of the night no less, is one of the more ripe and odiferous I can imagine. The worry that followed must have been worse. But yes, the smoking process is just asking for trouble. I am glad Zeus suffered no complications!

Hi Donna, and thanks again for sharing this information. I'd love to see the company change course entirely and pay people for their vet bills. They could never pay for the loss of the dog - there's not a price on that - but when corporate integrity (not always an oxymoron) is on the line, it's time to step up. At least that's what honest and forthright customer relations demands. Thanks again, Donna.

Thanks Elaine for sharing you and your dog's frightening experience. While I know many many people like the rawhide chews, please be aware that dogs do choke on pieces dogs tear off. Don't leave your dogs alone with the chews you give them - make sure you are around to supervise their safety. I'm glad your dog had a good outcome and is happily enjoying his bone shaped cookies!

We mistakenly gave our dog a ham bone. After he was throwing up and foaming at the mouth, he had emergency surgery to remove an intestinal impaction. Please don't make the same mistake. Our dogs love the bone shaped cookie treats, and the puppies don't chew shoes when they are given rawhide.
