It’s been a busy week, and the  weekend edition gives me a chance to share some of the blogs I think are useful and a good read. This weekend, it’s travel & food doggy style!

First up, Dog Jaunt is a great find if you travel with small dogs or are thinking about it.  A reader asked a particularly complicated question about going to Hawaii with her dog in-cabin, and she got a really well-researched  response.  Dog Jaunt also conducts contests and an Outward Hound backpack carrier is the prize; in fact, there’s a contest going on right now!  Even though I’m not planning to go on a trip with my dog right now, I enjoyed reading the articles and thinking about the where I could take Tashi just for fun!

Go Pet Friendly is a site that helps families plan dog-friendly roadtrips, with a trip planner that plots your travel for places where you and the furry ones in your pack will be welcome.  It contains up-to-date pet policies for close to 30,000 hotels and campgrounds in the US and Canada. And it doesn’t end with the road trip.  There’s information about dog-friendly restaurants, sights, and services that correspond to your route and destination, too! Ratings information is also available.  Don’t miss the blog. They have a new RV and will be live-blogging from the road.

I must be ready for a vacation or something with all this talk of travel!  And what goes well with travel?  Food!  Doggybytes is a blog that promotes a raw diet for dogs, with a series of articles on the whys, the drawbacks of commercial dog foods, resulting health benefits of a high protein diet and why it is not hard on a dog’s kidneys, switching your dog to raw, the cost differential between raw and kibble, and even an article on if he were to feed kibble what would be buy.  There’s a lively commentary going on, so take a  look. There are also news bytes of general interest.

Put your feet up and enjoy.  If you have read something we didn’t cover this week that you really liked, let me know.
