Bad Dog Banned in Aspen

A black and white Pomeranian.

Here’s an interesting approach to helping a dog live out his life regardless of the careless owner’s behavior.  A bad dog owned by a bad owner is banished !

Judge Brooke Peterson decided enough was enough, and that a 13- year-old-dog had bit his last person in that town. After giving a good scolding to Melinda Goldrich, owner, the Judge said if he saw Gizmo, a Pomeranian, in Aspen again he would be put to death. Banned in Aspen.

Goldrich has been in court with Gizmo several times since 2006 and was told never to leave her dog unattended. Of course, she did and the dog bit someone again–and again. It’s usually people who cause their dogs to come to grief.  Having a dog like this means you must protect him from himself,a point not lost on the Judge.

Goldrich admits it was her fault. This admission may not have mattered to another Judge.  Gizmo lucked out, and will be living out his life in a nearby town with a new person, a good thing for the dog.

See Rick Carroll’s report here.

And if you’d like a good laugh, take a look at John Wostendiek’s Ohmidog! story on his dog Ace, and  then watch a most excellent PSA video he rediscovered on YouTube called Treat Equal You’ll be glad you did!
