I took him to NC State for evaluation-and it was bilateral hip replacement. The cost is 10K. The breeder showed NO interest in the dog as his 1 yr "guarantee", had expired. Does anyone have any advice. My dog is growing weaker and I am trying to raise funds, cut back his activity and have him lose a few pounds. I am a preschool teacher in illinois and have a three year old chessie who tore his acl while jumping. It will cost about 3500 dollars to have surgery. My husband and I both have goood jobs but have been recovering from a finnancil hardship after him being off work for several months and at the same time owning his own business. The giving up business and getting a job that barely paid his bills. With a few more complications we have come accross. We are finnally getting back on our feet and now this happened to our Therapy dog. I have applied to credit care before when my last therapy dog of 7 years came down with cancer. I had to settle that through a debt relief program that I am still paying on. So am not elgible for that. My boy is a very loving dog and is in contact with 100 preschoolers a day who are considered at-risk. Does anyone know of funding that is available to help with the cost of the surgery. He has been bleeding periodically for the past week and is still fighting off the infections. I have taken him into the Houston Humane Society for exams and he can be fixed for 500 which included his leg and wound surgery. Please if there is away you can assist me in helping my dog it will be greatly appreciated he is a member of my family and we wish to not put him down. Thank you and God Bless.
