New York Times reports there is progress in the battle to be a no kill city, “The euthanasia rate for stray and abandoned cats and dogs that are taken to New York City’s animal shelters has steadily fallen to a projected 38 percent for 2008, down from 74 percent in 2002, giving advocates for animals hope that they will be able to meet an announced goal of bringing the rate to zero by 2015.” Read More

A shelter on Long Island was broken into on the morning of Dec, 24th 2008 resulting is damage to property and harm to animals….Three windows were broken during the incident. Twenty-five cats got out of their cages and five escaped out the broken windows. We got three back but two are still missing out in the cold. Read More
